Talla Stafainn (Staffin Community Hall) was opened in 1982 after several fund-raising events. The building cost was £100,000. Since then, Talla Stafainn has gone from strength to strength and is there for the benefit of the community. Talla Stafainn is so much more than just a hall, it is a collective of many different and varied facilities. These include a shop, restaurant, launderette, gym, toilets, exhibition area as well as a large multi-functional hall.
The shop, Staffin Stores, is a busy well stocked facility for locals and tourists alike. The staff are knowledgeable about the local area and always happy to help. The shop contains the self-service laundry. The restaurant, The Hungry Gull, serve delicious food and drink and is a great place to enjoy coffee and cake, lunch, or a takeaway evening meal. It’s a great place to sit, relax and enjoy watching the world go by.
The gym, Aurora Community Gym, is a well-equipped gym with excellent equipment. Membership is open to all and has very competitive rates. The hall is available to rent, current use includes a youth club, ceilidhs, yoga, festivities, parties, craft fairs, and hairdressing. The hall can be hired on a daily or half daily rate. Facilities include a large hall and a smaller room which can be used for meetings and exhibitions. Tables and chairs are also available. The hall holds a Public Entertainment License and is fully insured. The toilet facilities are part of the Highland Council Comfort Scheme and are open daily to the public. Donations from the public for this service are always gratefully received.
The Staffin Youth Club meets regularly in the hall and is well supported with supportive and enthusiastic leaders.
Staffin Community Hall can be hired for a number of event uses including functions and public events.
The hall is perfectly sized for club use including indoor sports such as football and badminton.
Talla Stafainn has an on site restaurant called Hungry Gull that serves a variety of excellent food and drink.
Staffin Stores shop is situated within the Hall premises and sells a wide variety of groceries.
Staffin Community Hall has a large conveniently located parking area directly beside the hall.
Staffin Community Hall is located near the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye and near Staffin Beach.
